  • Arrange for an adult to take you home after the procedure.

On the day

  • No food for about 6 hours before the procedure.
  • Small sips of plain water are usually allowed until 2 hours before.
  • Take your usual medicines only as the clinic has advised.
  • Wear comfortable clothes, and leave jewellery and valuables at home.
  • Bring your NRIC, insurance card, medicine list and any earlier reports.

After the procedure

  • Do not drive, operate machinery or sign important documents for the rest of the day.
  • A mild sore throat or bloating is common and settles within a day.
  • You can usually eat once the numbness in your throat has worn off.
Seek medical attention promptly for severe pain, fever, vomiting blood or black stools after the procedure.
